Anja Tollenaar

Sous-chef - The New Institute

To understand the appearance of objects of design and fashion in everyday life, we need the authentic sources. From posters to buildings to shoes and dresses, we can learn from historical archives and collections how and why they were made.

Educated as a design historian, Anja Tollenaar has worked as archivist and project manager at several Dutch institutes for art, design and heritage. Common objective in her professional life is mapping out, finding accommodations and making public the heritage of Dutch design. Inter-institutional cooperation and sharing data is crucial. She is project manager Heritage at The New Institute, for the National Design Archive, Nationaal Ontwerp Archief (NOA)
